National Registered Dietitian Day--RD Blogfest

Wednesday, March 11, is National Registered Dietitian (RD) Day. You might not know that I'm also a Registered Dietitian, and have been since 1987. Part of my practice has always involved speaking with groups. That's why I originally became interested in the art of public speaking. Now, it's my passion, and I continue to study speaking and pass my knowledge on to others.

Speaking effectively helps me communicate better with clients and peers. It also helps me coach fellow health care professionals to do the same. Becoming a registered dietitian was a step toward professional speaking, and for that I'm grateful.

Marilyn,

We can't help people if we don't effectively communicate what we know! I'm glad you participated in blogfest and that you help us with what is often the most challenging aspect of our work--feeling comfortable being on stage while we share our passion.

Marilyn,

Having entered this field after ample stage experience, then utilizing and honing those skills throughout my dietetic career in communications, I couldn't agree more that public speaking is a key asset for RDs! Thanks for bringing that aspect to the forefront.

Happy RD Day!
